Dr. Marci Schwartz provides parent support groups throughout the year, each typically lasting from 6 to 8 weeks. Each group will target different populations and topics.
Some groups are tailored to meet the needs of parents who have recently received a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder, and the content of the group will be supportive of this experience.
Other groups may focus on parents of children who are working towards increasing independence and discovering options for after the child completes high school.
Additional groups are created to meet the needs of specific issues raised by parents by request.
New groups being planned for January, 2015. These groups will be for parents:
Helping your child build independent living skills
Managing a new diagnosis and the impact on the family
General support group
A support group for siblings living with a child with an autism spectrum diagnosis will also be held. Some group sessions will be for parents, some for siblings and the final group session will be for both parents and siblings.
